It seems we all need a refresher on proper bathroom etiquette. While these rules mostly apply strictly to men, women may take note as well since quite a few of the rules are universal. Get your pen and paper ready, because if you take notes and study hard, you’ll vastly improve the quality of bathrooms across the globe, and that’s something we can all benefit from.

I started having problems with my laptop last week. My Macbook Pro is just over a year old (celebrated its birthday on the 5th of November), and all of a sudden last week the screen went completely black. No backlight. No nothing. I was using it one minute, closed the lid to go hang out with a friend, then came home an hour later and opened the lid and it never came back on. I had a mild panic attack. And by mild…I mean that I freaked out.

More and more over the past few weeks, the topic of the economic bailout has been at the forefront of the news. The more the government promises, the more companies hold out their hands saying “gimme”. And during this whole game, homeowners who can’t pay their mortgages are crying out that it’s not their fault and they need help and it’s the lenders who caused their problems – and what’s worse is that the government is saying “okay” and granting the ability to refinance at lower interest rates and bailing out mortgage companies. When will people and businesses accept responsibility for their own actions and bad choices, and take the blame for the consequences onto themselves where it belongs?
This weekend my family all came into town to celebrate my grandfather’s 80th birthday. Thing is, he had no idea that he was getting a party on quite that scale when he agreed to come. I’m assuming he only thought it’d be a small gathering of family, completely unaware that his extended family and friends would be flying in from all over the country to be there for him on this big milestone. But I probably enjoyed it almost as much as he did. For me it wasn’t just a celebration of his birthday, it was a family reunion where I got to see cousins I haven’t seen in years. It was awkward at first, but it all mellowed out and turned into a great weekend.

I was very disappointed to wake up yesterday morning to find that Proposition 8 had passed in California the previous night. And not only that, but Arizona and Florida passed similar movements as well. Proposition 8 having been passed, now has amended the California state constitution to effectively ban same-sex marriage and define a marriage as only between a man and a woman. Though I don’t know the details of the similar constitutional bans that were passed in Arizona and Florida, they’re just as frustrating to think about. I just don’t see how people can be so hateful.
